A Purpose-Driven Start
Rare Gem Construction began like many great ventures—born from dissatisfaction and driven by purpose. I was working long hours as a trash truck driver, watching time pass while my skills and dreams sat idle. I knew I was meant for more.
That calling turned into action when I launched 517 Handyman—just one man helping homeowners in the community with small projects: kitchen sinks, door replacements, drywall patches, lighting installs, and anything else a neighbor might need.
Building a Foundation of Trust
As trust grew, so did the scope of the work. One light fixture led to a full kitchen renovation, and one patched wall turned into a complete bathroom overhaul.
At first, I had no intention of hiring anyone—but that changed when I met Randy, Conner, and Alec. These three weren’t just skilled tradesmen—they were men of integrity, humility, and shared values.

Johnny brought to the table what we were missing—a background in design presentation, customer support, and sales strategy. But more importantly, he shared our heart for people and our commitment to values. With Johnny on board, a new vision took shape.
